The vision for Community College Outreach:
Sharing Christ with students, faculty and staff (SFS) on Puget Sound Community College campuses in partnership with other churches and Christian organizations.
Through God’s grace the vision is becoming reality!
God has blessed Community College Outreach ministry and is continuing to work through it by touching the lives of an increasing number of students. We are excited to hear and realize that this is a work of the Holy Spirit throughout the whole Puget Sound region. I would like to share with you good news about our community college ministry this fall 2014.
Ministry expanded to fourth campus
We started the ministry on an additional campus, Cascadia Community College, this fall 2014. Now we are ministering on four campuses: Everett CC, Edmonds CC, Shoreline CC, and Cascadia CC.
We will be sharing the good news and serving students at both Cascadia Community College and University of Washington Bothell as they share the same buildings. In the photo below are two student leaders from UW Bothell and two from Cascadia CC.
Why International Students?
International students represent an incredibly strategic opportunity for sharing God's love and making disciples. God has brought many nations and ethnicities that are difficult to engage with traditional missionary efforts right here to Shoreline. International students go on to be influential leaders as they return home. Moreover, many of these students are eager for friendships with Americans and have never met a genuine follower of Jesus. This may be the first time they experience the love of Jesus firsthand. We want to welcome every International Student to Shoreline, and by loving them, introduce them to Jesus.
Why "Talk Time"?
The "Talk Time" model provides a safe environment for the development of friendships required to effectively share the Gospel. "Talk Time" helps meet some needs of international students: it provides essential English conversation practice as well as enhancing the students' social and cultural experience. This provides the foundation for embodying God's love with students in an ongoing manner. There is much potential for additional outreach and discipleship ministries to develop. It is our hope and prayer that as God works through us, students will embrace the good news of the Gospel.
We hope you will partner with us to help grow the
ministry’s reach and impact through:
- Praying for this ministry and for the efforts of all involved, as well as for the students who will come to know and experience the saving love and grace of our Savior.
- Becoming a volunteer with “Talk Time”, providing hospitality as we host international students at Calvin on Thursday nights. As we offer dinner and conversation, we help them practice English, and share the good news with them.
- Financially supporting the ministry
