Jenine Taylor, Presbytery Connector
Jenine was born in Wisconsin, grew up in Iowa, and moved to Washington during high school. With the exception of an internship in California and travel, she has called Washington home ever since. She attended Seattle Pacific University, earning her bachelor’s degree and graduating with a double major in psychology and religion with a minor in communication. Quite a change from her intended trajectory of business and foreign language!
After SPU, Jenine began her career at Cottage Lake Presbyterian Church, serving as Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry. Her original plan was to stay in that position for at least three years to defy the rapid turnover statistics for church “youth workers” and to build strong relationships. God must have agreed with the plan, but with infinite humor added a zero to the three, since Jenine celebrated her 30th anniversary at Cottage Lake before joining the NWC Presbytery staff in 2017. No two years were the same as she worked with seven pastors through times of growth and decline. Early on, she helped to start a LOGOS ministry and continues to believe that Christian relationships are at the heart of discipleship.
When Jenine’s work at Cottage Lake moved to half-time she added a second career, working as Administrator for Seattle SIM (Society for Information Management), a professional organization that hosts networking and continuing education events for Information Technology professionals.
Jenine and her husband, Price Taylor, live in Maltby where they have raised their three children, Valerie, Stephen, and Justin. With Justin in school at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Jenine and Price are adjusting to a much quieter household and planning excursions to the Midwest whenever possible.
Jenine enjoys taking walks with their dog, Shivers, hiking and cross-country skiing with family and friends, and expressing her creativity in the kitchen. She also loves worshipping with children, holding babies, playing hook tag, dark chocolate, and shopping at Costco. Her latest passions are contemplative worship, Biblical storytelling, and trying new ketogenic recipes.
