Sarah Beard, Communications Coordinator
Sarah Beard is the Communications Coordinator at the Northwest Coast Presbytery. She has managed the office since 2006, produces the newsletter, manages website content, and plans regional events for the presbytery and ministry partners. Sarah assists committees with their data management, meeting coordination and reporting.
Sarah was ordained an elder in the PC(USA) in 2001, and served on the session at Journey Church in Folsom, California.
2005 was a year of transition for Sarah. Having been born and raised in California, she said “yes” to a proposal of marriage from Arthur, left her 15 year career as a paralegal, and moved to Washington.
Sarah began serving as a commissioner to the Synod of Alaska NW in 2009, where she currently is the moderator of the finance committee. The Synod was the first in the nation to adopt a “reduced function” model. Utilizing this model, she facilitated the identification and distribution of approximately $1 million to the presbyteries for local mission support, and negotiated the sale of a $1.2 million property with the proceeds being distributed to the presbyteries.
Sarah is a faithful Denver Broncos fan. She loves root beer marble ice cream and places Sandra Brown, Iris Johansen and Ridley Pearson at the top of her list of authors.
Sarah lives in Lake Stevens, Washington, with her husband, Arthur, and their loyal, fury friend, Duke (who was recently arrested by the local sheriff for jumping on the furniture and setting off the house alarm). They have four children, and are discovering the joy of being grandparents.
